Kool FM Live Streaming

Radio brands do not usually come back once they have been retired. Kool FM did.

The station launched under that name in 2016, spent two years as Buletin FM, another two as Kool 101, and then, late in 2025, went back to being Kool FM again. Today it is Media Prima’s Malay-language adult contemporary station, and the live stream is playing on this page – free, with nothing to install and no account to create.

A Name That Came Back

Kool FM first went on air on 1 March 2016, after Media Prima bought over Laureate Sdn Bhd the previous October.

It held that name for five years. In 2021 it was relaunched as Buletin FM, in 2023 it became Kool 101, and in November 2025 it returned to Kool FM.

Stations get rebranded often enough. Reviving a name that had already been shelved is rarer, and tends to suggest the original brand sat better with listeners than anything brought in to replace it.

Music from the Eighties Onward

Kool FM broadcasts entirely in Malay, with a playlist built on adult contemporary and classic hits.

In practice the window runs from the 1980s through to current releases – wide enough to cover several decades of Malaysian pop without reaching back into the much older material that other stations have made their speciality. Indonesian and English songs turn up here and there alongside the Malay core.

It is a deliberately middle position on the dial: not a nostalgia station, and not a chart station either.

Built for Gen X, Grown Past It

The station was originally aimed at Generation X – listeners who grew up with the eighties and nineties material that anchors the playlist.

That targeting has loosened since. The music selection and the presentation now pull in a wider spread of ages, which tends to happen to any station built around songs that keep being rediscovered.

The Voices on Air

A commercial station’s identity usually sits with its presenters as much as its playlist, and Kool FM leans on some familiar Malaysian names – among them Aznil Nawawi, Haiza, Muaz Mohamed and Jamal Jamaluddin.

Line-ups shift, as they do everywhere in commercial radio, but having established broadcasting voices on air is a large part of what separates a station like this from an automated playlist.

Seven Cities

Kool FM broadcasts on seven frequencies, one for each area it covers:

• 101.3 MHz – Klang Valley
• 90.2 MHz – Penang and Taiping
• 107.3 MHz – Alor Setar
• 87.6 MHz – Ipoh
• 88.1 MHz – Malacca
• 105.3 MHz – Johor Bahru
• 104.3 MHz – Kuching

Six of those sit on the peninsula. The seventh, Kuching, is the station’s only foothold in East Malaysia.

Outside the Seven

Everywhere else is beyond the broadcast footprint – Sabah, most of Sarawak, and plenty of towns in the gaps between those seven transmitter sites.

The stream settles that. It runs in a browser on a phone, tablet or laptop, with no frequency to look up and nothing to install, which also makes it the straightforward option for Malaysians listening from overseas.
